Online Databases for fun, your interests and research

The Library has many online resources for you to use from downloading a book or song to learning a language. Sometimes it may be overwhelming to try to learn which resources are most useful to YOU.

The Library now has quick tutorials on how to get started on some of these resources. In most cases, there is a short introduction with additional videos on how to get started. Instructions on how to download books also include specific devices. You'll  see them on the Resources and Databases and Downloadable Books as a nifty side slider page! And within those pages, there are also links to the tutorials. We hope they will help you!

A collection of over 22 million recent records, updated daily. It incorporates 75 million records from the Social Security Death Index (1937-present).

Available in Library and from home with library card. Selected America's Historical Newspapers contains news articles from 1,077 Sources and 51 States and Territories


Ancestry Library
Available in library only. Discover your ancestors with the world's largest family history website. It has unparalleled coverage of the United Staes and the United Kingdom, including census, vital, church, court, and immigration records, as well as record collections from Canada and other areas.

General Databases

Detailed cultural information on more than 200 countries, a kid's-eye  view of daily life in countries around the world, explore all the States in colorful, engaging reports, and tour all of Canada's provinces and territories. Videos, flags, graphs, interviews, photos, and slideshows make this a very interactive database! You can access this from home with your library card!

EBSCOHost Research Databases are searchable databases including, Greenfile (Environmental Issues), Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts, Teacher Reference Center and their eBook Collection.

Encyclopaedia Britannica
Numerous research tools, dictionary and thesaurus, timelines and includes kids and high school versions. Provided by Mass Library System and Mass Board of Library Commissioners

InfoTrac - Gale Databases
Access reference, periodical and primary source information.  Gale has the ability  to access more than 20,000 publications and more than 150 million documents. Provided by the Mass Library System and Mass Board of Library Commissioners.
